OVERVIEW
Designing for the moments no one hopes will happen.
Most products are designed for convenience. Aegix was designed for crisis. I led the design of the mobile and web applications across the Aegix platform—including AIM, MAP, AIR, and SMS—creating experiences used by school administrators, first responders, and emergency personnel during critical incidents. Every interaction had to work under extreme pressure, where seconds matter and confusion carries real consequences. Today, those products continue to help schools coordinate emergency response, account for students, and reunite children with their families after an incident. https://www.utahbusiness.com/press-releases/2025/02/19/skyridge-high-school-aegix-global-partnership/ https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/new-ai-technology-aims-to-detect-guns-in-utah-schools https://www.sltrib.com/news/education/2024/01/02/some-utah-schools-will-soon-use-ai/
Designing for people who don’t have time to think.
In an emergency, there are no second chances for good UX. Every screen had to communicate clearly, reduce cognitive load, and help people make confident decisions under immense stress. Designing for those moments fundamentally changed how I think about product design.
Software that becomes invisible when it matters most.
The best emergency software isn’t something people admire—it’s something they don’t have to think about. My focus was creating interfaces that felt immediately understandable, allowing administrators and responders to stay focused on protecting people instead of figuring out the technology.
Impact measured differently.
Most products measure success in engagement, revenue, or growth. Aegix challenged me to think differently. Success meant helping schools communicate faster, giving first responders better situational awareness, and building tools people could trust when everything else felt uncertain. The platform continues to support schools and emergency responders today.
